Hamburg have told their right back Dennis Diekmeier, who is a target for Arsenal to take their new contract offer or risk been sold once the January transfer window opens. Arsenal have been linked with Dennis Diekmeier in the last 2 transfer windows but he seem to be getting close to securing a contract with Hamburg which made Arsenal not to pursuit him any further.
However, reports from Germany today is that the player wants more money from Hamburg which Hamburg are not ready to offer. Hamburg general manager Oliver Kreuzer has made it clear to the player they will not be increasing their contract offer. The situation may force Hamburg to sell him to any club that wants his services in the January transfer window as they fear him leaving for free once his contract expires.
“Dennis Diekmeier has been handed a proper contract offer already, one that is good and well in line with those market requirements,” Kreuzer told Bild.
“However, if there is a club that is able to offer Dennis the amounts of money he is still looking out for, we will be coming off second best in this.”
From all indication, it seems the player is not going to sign a new contract and it won’t be surprising if Wenger revisits the opportunity of signing the experience right back. He will be an ideal replacement for Sagna who himself is yet to put pen to paper on a new Arsenal contract with less than one year left on his current Arsenal contract.
