Arsenal and Germany international defender Per Mertesacker is set to get a new improved 3 years deal with the gunners. According to daily mirror, Mertesacker will be in the last 2 years of his contract at the end of the current football season and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to ensure he does not go through what he went through in the past with the likes of Van Persie and as such, he and the player’s representatives have commenced discussions on a new improve deal early.
Mertsacker who is 29 years old today ( Sunday 29th of September 2013 ) has been in commanding form in the central of Arsenal’s defense since last season and Wenger wants him for at least 3 more years. Arsenal will offer Per Mertesacker a new contract to keep him at the Emirates for the next three years.
Mertesacker joined Arsenal in 2010 in a deal said to be worth 10 million pounds and after a slow start, he has helped in stabilizing Arsenal’s hitherto porous defense.
