Great news from the Volkswagen Arena as Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has confirmed that Julian Draxler could leave the club this summer. Draxler is currently on vacation and his agent has met with Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.
Wolfsburg had a torrid season and failed to qualify for European football for next season and this hasn’t gone down well with the world cup winner and some of his teammates. Draxler has told Wolfsburg that he is ready to call it time and has asked his agent to secure a move to another club.
Failing to qualify for Champions league has also influenced Volkswagen’s funding for the club, as the club’s main sponsor are making major cutbacks from the amount of money they will provide to Wolfsburg for the coming season. This could put the club in a position where they will need to cash in on their biggest players – including Arsenal target Draxler.
Wenger would have to make a bid of £55m to land the 22-year-old attacker, this would be a staggering club record signing. This will be a good transaction for Arsenal as Draxler is young, is a world cup winner and very dangerous playing behind the main attacker.
Arsenal fans will be relishing the prospect of an Arsenal attacking line up of Giroud, Draxler, Ozil, Xhaka and Sanchez.
