Arsenal’s attempts to land Thomas Lemar may have been boosted today after the French club announced the signing of Adama Diakhaby.
The 21-year-old attacker has signed a four-year deal with the French champions, joining from Rennes and is seen by many as a possible replacement for Lemar.
Just like the Arsenal target, Diakhaby can operate either centrally or out wide, so he could easily fill the void Lemar’s potential departure would leave.
Arsene Wenger has been chasing Lemar all summer and has already had three bids knocked back by Monaco for the 21-year-old – the highest totalling around £45 million.
The Gunners boss is expected to return with a fourth, although he was reluctant to discuss the situation on Saturday when pressed on the possibility of Lemar arriving at the Emirates.
