MANCHESTER UNITED have won the race for Alexis Sanchez that will also see Henrikh Mkhitaryan join Arsenal, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils have been battling Manchester City for the Chilean’s signature United have now seen off competition to sign him.
United will pay the Gunners £40m for Sanchez, who is out of contract in the summer, while Mkhitaryan will move to north London in the opposite direction.
United have offered Sanchez a long-term deal worth in excess of £300,000-a-week, plus a £35m signing on fee.
A move to Old Trafford would see Sanchez become United’s highest-paid player.
Mourinho has been trying to convince Sanchez to join him in Manchester for the past seven months, it has been claimed, and United bosses believe the 29-year-old can take them to the next level.
With Arsenal accepting Alexis Sanchez is United-bound they want a deal completed in the next 48 hours so they can focus on signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arsenal are on the lookout for further attacking reinforcements and want the Borussia Dortmund striker this month.
Gunners’ chiefs have reportedly held talks with Aubameyang and are confident about securing a deal for the Gabon international.
However, Arsenal are reluctant to meet the £60m valuation fee and hope talks in the coming days can see them land him at a cheaper price.
Arsene Wenger admitted yesterday he was resigned to losing Sanchez and called for a replacement to be found.
