Manchester United are reportedly targeting Mesut Ozil, with Jose Mourinho ready to take advantage of a stand-off between Arsenal and the playmaker.
Ozil is currently the highest paid player at the Emirates, earning £140,000-a-week on a contract which expires in the summer of 2018.
reports suggest the Gunners were close to wrapping up a new deal with Ozil which would see him on wages of £160,000-a-week but the 28-year-old is still yet to sign on the dotted line.
And, as Ozil’s contract talks roll on, the Sun claim Mourinho could attempt to lure him to Old Trafford, offering the midfielder a massive £250,000-a-week deal.
Ozil enjoyed his time under Mourinho during their time together at Real Madrid and the Portuguese manager spoke in glowing terms about the German.
Back in 2012, Mourinho said: ‘Ozil is unique — he’s the best No 10 in the world.’
The self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, though, understands that the chances of landing the World Cup winner are slim.
