Arsenal look set to be left disappointed in their hopes of Massimiliano Allegri becoming their next manager after the Italian hinted he would recommit himself to Juventus.

Allegri led his side to Coppa Italia glory against AC Milan on Wednesday night and will likely add the Serie A title to that haul, with Juve only needing one point from their final two games to confirm it.

The Independent revealed on Monday that the 50-year-old is understood to be on the Gunners’ first choice to take over from Arsene Wenger, while Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann is another admired by Arsenal’s hierarchy.

However, following Juve’s triumph on Wednesday, Allegri alluded to remaining in Turin rather than heading to the Premier League, as he laid out his targets for next season.

“We must win the title and then fight for the next title,” he said after his side’s 4-0 win. “I have a contract with Juve and as every year we will meet at the end of the season to plan the future.
