ARSENAL are doing all they can to ensure they beat Manchester United to the signing of Bordeaux forward Malcolm.
The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move the Premier League in recent weeks with Manchester United and Arsenal both chasing him.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified the 20-year-old as a target this month as he looks to strengthen his attacking options.
But it seems Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also has plans to secure his signature and the Gunners are putting the wheels in motion to sign him.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Arsenal have scheduled a meeting with the Brazilian’s representatives and they are confident of striking an agreement.
Meanwhile, Goal’s Brazilian blog Ora Bolas claim a meeting has also been scheduled but suggest it could be later on in the week.
Both reports suggest Malcolm will cost around €50m (£44.3m).
However, only last month Bordeaux president Stephane Martin claimed the club would not be selling him this month.
“He will not leave this winter,” he said.
“What if we go an immediate loan deal back? I don’t see that being in the interests of the club to do that.
“We have not spoken about it and it is not something we are working on.”
Malcolm has netted seven goals and provided four assists in Ligue 1 this season with Bordeaux 15th in the table.
