Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has insisted that nothing definite has been decided on the future of Arsenal and Everton linked midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has been linked with a summer move away from Sampdoria, with clubs in Italy and across Europe believed to be interested in him.
Arsenal and Everton are reportedly keen on taking him to England and he is claimed to be Napoli’s choice to replace Jorginho, who is expected to join Manchester City this summer.
Napoli have been in talks with Sampdoria for Torreira, but no deal has been agreed yet and Ferrero stressed that the discussions between the two clubs have not been more than just initial probes.
He told Italian radio station Radio CRC when asked about negotiations with Napoli for Torreira: “This question can be answered by Napoli.
“There were approaches for Torreira, but then it ended there.
“De Laurentiis must first deal with [Carlo] Ancelotti.”
The Sampdoria supremo stressed there are more clubs interested in the midfielder, but nothing concrete has been finalised regarding his future at the club.
“There is great interest in the boy, but for now there is nothing.
“He is a great player, many have asked about him.”
