Santi Cazorla & Arsenal
It’s been over a year and a half since Santi Cazorla turned out for Arsenal.
The Arsenal midfielder last played for his club in October 2016 – since then, Cazorla has experienced an absolute nightmare of injury problems.
Cazorla has undergone nine operations, at one stage using skin on his achilles from his arm where he had his daughter’s name tattooed.
There was even serious consideration as to whether doctors should amputate Cazorla’s foot after it was infected.
Due to the severity of the infection, doctors told Cazorla that he is lucky to still be able to walk in the garden with his son.
Santi Cazorla wants to return
On Tuesday, Spanish paper El Confidencial have posted an update on Cazorla’s situation.
Now 33, Cazorla is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.
Arsene Wenger has already made it clear that Cazorla will not be offered a new deal at the club due to his ongoing injury problems.
Yet, according to El Confidencial, Cazorla “would like to return, but at Arsenal they are skeptical”.
Sadly the Spanish news outlet fail to provide any serious medical updates on Cazorla’s condition.
Is he actually fit enough to turn out for the Gunners before the Premier League season ends?
For the record, Arsenal did include Cazorla in their Europa League squad this season.
Arsenal fans would no doubt love to give Cazorla one last send off after his career at the club.
Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga back in 2012. At the Gunners he won the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015.
