Jorginho’s agent has confirmed several clubs are interested in the £60m-rated Napoli star amid links with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, according to TeamTalk.
The Italian international has become one of the most in-demand midfielders in European football having starred for Napoli since joining the club from Verona in the summer of 2014.
The 26-year-old has been virtually ever-present this season to help Mauricio Sarri’s side challenge for the Serie A title but Napoli have fallen just short after being held to a 2-2 draw by Torino on Sunday.
Jorginho’s impressive form has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League with TeamTalk claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all expressed their interest.
City in particular have been strongly linked with speculation suggesting Pep Guardiola is closing-in on a deal to sign Jorginho as a potential replacement for Yaya Toure.
The Brazilian-born midfielders agent, Joao Santos, has now responded to the reports by confirming that four or five Premier League clubs want to sign Jorginho this summer but insists his clients future is yet to be decided.
Santos is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“A Manchester City bid for Jorginho? Everyone knows there are four or five Premier League clubs who want Jorginho,”
“Napoli have never talked about anything and I’ve never talked to other teams officially. I’m waiting for Napoli to define his future.
“Jorginho still has two years left on his contract and if Napoli want to sell him, he’ll just have to find an agreement with another team and then he’ll have to talk to us about it.”
“A hypothetical renewal with an amended contract? We’ll have to wait until the end of the season to talk to Napoli. Anything can happen in football.”
City seem to be in pole position but I wouldn’t rule out United as Jose Mourinho needs to sign a new defensive midfielder with Michael Carrick retiring while Marouane Fellaini is also yet to sign a new contract.
Liverpool are also in the market for a replacement for Emre Can while Arsenal are lining-up midfielders in-case Jack Wilshere doesn’t sign a new deal and it seems Jorginho is also on their radars.
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks but TeamTalk claim that Napoli value Jorginho at around £60m so the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, United and City will have to dig deep if they want to get a deal agreed.
