Arsenal are currently in a situation where everything seems crumbling and the manager, Arsene Wenger does not have answer to the club’s problem at the moment. Players have been shipped out and more need to come in in the summer to start the rebuilding process.
Below are some of the players Arsenal could be looking towards to challenge for the league title next season.
Petr Cech from all indication still remain Arsenal number one because there seems to be no competition from anyone better at the club. David Ospina has not shown any class of a goalkeeper that can take his place.
Stoke’s Jack Butland have been touted as the heir to Cech and the Gunners could be lining up a sensation £40m bid for him come this summer. He will be a perfect addition at the right age of 24. He could serve the club for at least a decade which will reduce the risk on betting on Arsenal.
Tottenham defender, Toby Alderweird has been stalling on signing a new contract since the beginning of the season. The centre back wants a pay rise and Tottenham seems not interested in giving him that after they have acquired another defender, Davison Sanchez.
This could open the ground for Arsenal to throw in a bid as he will be having a year left on his contract at the end of the season. The 28-year-old Belgian will be a perfect solution to Arsenal defensive worries as he is very experienced in the league.
He would not be easy to prove him out of Tottenham as both clubs are not known of doing too many deals together but Arsenal could capitalise on the contract issues to get him.
The defensive midfield department at Arsenal is one in which Arsenal does not have a single specialized player to field in the established first team. Xhaka have been playing there and it has been obvious the player is more of a box to box midfielder than a defensive midfielder.
Going into this summer, getting someone to fill that void should be top of Arsenal wish list. Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi tick the box as the player who has the ability and technique to play in that position for Arsenal.
Ndidi record the highest interception since moving to England in January of 2016 and has been in extraordinary form. The 21-year-old will make the work easier for the likes of Ozil and Mhkitaryan who are playing the attacking role. Leicester will be willing to take an offer in the region of £30m for a player they got for around £15m a year and half ago.
Arsenal were in for the Bordeaux winger last summer and a fee in the region of €40m was quoted. He is expected to leave France at the end of the season and Arsenal and Tottenham are his most likely destination. Arsenal would find a perfect player to replace Theo Walcott who left for Everton in January.
This is a player that have been on Arsenal’s watch have list for a long time. Reports suggest that Arsene Wenger has identified the midfielder as a target and has asked the club to sign the 24-year-old before the world cup in June. Fekir has been the star man for Lyon so far this season and he will most likely be leaving for for a bigger club in the summer. Arsenal will be getting a very good player if he joins in the summer.
