Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has promised Denis Suarez he will be allowed to join Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to reports. Suarez is desperate to leave Barcelona this month and has already set his sights on a reunion with Unai Emery at Arsenal. Emery is pushing for Arsenal to sign the midfielder, who is thought to have agreed personal terms ahead of the switch.
However, Marca claim Bartomeu has had to personally intervene in transfer talks after both parties hit a wall. Barcelona want to finalise Suarez’s exit this month and are requesting a fee in the region of £15million. But Arsenal do not have any transfer funds available and want to take the 25-year-old on loan before making the deal permanent in the summer.
Arsenal have indicated the will be able to meet Barcelona’s asking price at the end of the season, but talks had stalled between the two clubs. Now Bartomeu has promised Suarez he will personally see to it he gets his wish to join Arsenal this month. Barcelona is now likely to agree to a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the summer.
