The Gunners look set to announce a new deal for their current manager at some point today, and some reports claim they already have a future replacement in mind.
Howe has been linked with the Arsenal job in the past, coming up as number of big names thought to be on the club’s radar when Wenger’s position was in doubt earlier this season.
While many Arsenal fans are likely to want a more established and proven winner like Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri, Howe has long been highly rated as one of the best up-and-coming managers in the game.
The 39-year-old has worked wonders to take Bournemouth to the Premier League, playing a stylish brand of football that would go down well if replicated at the Emirates Stadium.
According to the Daily Star, this has led Arsenal to identify him as the ideal man to take over from Wenger in 2019, with the Frenchman moving upstairs into a director of football role.
Wenger himself has previously ruled out working with a director of football himself, but it make sense that senior figures at Arsenal would want to keep a man of his knowledge and experience on in some capacity.
