Olivier Giroud’s future as an Arsenal player is increasingly doubtful, following the arrival of compatriot Alexandre Lacazette…
According to recent reports, the Gunners are prepared to listen to offers for the experienced forward with a range of clubs interested in his services.
Marseille, Lyon and Everton have all been linked recently, as well as Slaven Bilic’s West Ham. As a result, it’s increasingly unlikely that the Hammers hold any advantage over their rivals in their pursuit of Giroud, not least as he could be persuaded to seal a return to France if he does decide to leave the Gunners this summer.
Wenger has already declared his desire to keep hold of Giroud in north London, though the 30-year-old is not content with a lack of first-team assurances and would rather play on a regular basis elsewhere than be seen as an impact substitute off the bench.
With next summer’s World Cup in Russia on the horizon, it’s increasingly important that Giroud resolves his future before the new campaign begins.
He will be keen to impress international manager Didier Deschamps whilst retaining his place in the France side, something he can only do if given an extended opportunity to showcase his goal-scoring ability at club level.
