ARSENAL’S dressing room believe that contract rebels Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are going nowhere anytime soon, according to team-mate Nacho Monreal.
Both Sanchez and Ozil will see their contracts expire in the summer and will be able to leave the club for nothing.
But both have also been linked with moves away in January, as Arsenal search for a way to make some money out of their departures.
Manchester City are the favourites to land the Chilean forward.
Pep Guardiola’s side saw a deadline day move collapse after the Gunners failed to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
German international Ozil, on the other hand, has had no concrete offers but reportedly revealed he would want to join up with former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
The pair worked together whilst at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013.
However, despite the speculation fellow Gunner Monreal has disclosed that the players in the dressing room believe the pair have no intention of leaving in the winter transfer window and are fully focussed on getting the Emirates outfit back into the Champions League.
Questioned on whether the Arsenal dressing room believes that Sanchez and Ozil will be at the club for the second half of the season, Monreal said: “Yes, the feeling is that they will continue.
“At no time have we talked about the possibility of them leaving. Not at all. They are committed to the group and we will see what happens.
“I can’t say much about it. It does not depend on me. The situation is clear. They are two vital players for Arsenal.
“They are two players who end their contracts at the end of the season. If the club want them to stay beyond December [the January transfer window] they will follow.
“Yet, I do not know the club’s intentions. It is other people who are the ones who have to make a decision.”
Arsenal beat Tottenham at the Emirates in the first North London derby of the season and now have a chance to kickstart their season.
