ARSENAL are interested in signing Toby Alderweireld from arch-rivals Tottenham.
Spurs’ centre-half looks set to leave the club this summer due to his contract situation.
No agreement over a new deal is forthcoming, with his current one expiring in 2019.
Tottenham have the option to extend it by a further 12 months but would face losing him for just £20m at the end of next season.
As a result, a bidding war is poised to ensue this summer for the 29-year-old star.
Manchester United have been linked with Jose Mourinho keen to strengthen his defence.
Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG are also clubs mooted as potential destinations.
But according to Football London, Arsenal are interested too.
Whether Tottenham would approve a move to the Emirates is another matter.
However, Mauricio Pochettino has left Alderweireld out in the cold of late with Spurs ready to take the best deal on offer.
The switch would follow down a similar path to that of Sol Campbell after the centre-half quit Tottenham for Arsenal in 2001.
But Football London add while Alderweireld will leave Spurs, Arsenal are not expected to win the race.
One of the Manchester clubs are seen as the likeliest to triumph in the battle for the Belgium international.
After City signed Aymeric Laporte in January, though, they may not follow up initial interest in Alderweireld.
