Arsenal are keeping tabs on Napoli duo Kalidou Koulibaly and Lonrenzo Insigne, according to reports.
Club scouts were reportedly present at Napoli’s game against Red Bull Leipzig last week to watch the duo in action.
The Gunners weren’t shy to spend big in the last two transfer windows, having smashed it’s transfer record in each of the windows and this has led to reports linking us with several top players.
According to Calcio Mercato via the Express, Wenger has set his sights on Koulibaly and Insigne.
Koulibaly is understood to be Wenger’s prime target as the boss aims to strengthen his defense in the summer.
The manager spoke of how keen he was to sign a defender in the January transfer window but the unavailability of suitable options forced him to shelve the idea until the summer. And Koulibaly who was linked with the club last summer is reportedly high on Wenger’s wish-list.
The report also claims the boss instructed scouts to also watch Lorenzo Insigne who has been a long-time target of the club.
Wenger also had an eye on a player from the other team. Timo Werner, a striker who has been impressing for the Budesliga team in the last couple of seasons.
Wenger would still have to sign a winger in the summer, as he is yet to replace Alexis Sanchez and that may be why Insigne still appeals to him.
Nevertheless, signing any of the Koulibaly or Insigne won’t be an easy deal to pull off. I wouldn’t be any surprise Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis demands an outrageous fee for his star players.
He is particularly difficult to negotiate with and is sure to give Arsenal a tough time.
