Arsenal are probably only the top Premier league club whose transfer report lingers over the media – the Gunners apparently have transfer targets but it takes a lot of time for the club to make a deal come to past.
Arsenal target Rachid Ghezzal, missed Lyon’s game against Nancy over the past weekend and it has fuelled speculation that the 24-year-old winger could be on his way to the Premier League.
The play has drawn keen interest from Everton, West Ham and Arsenal, but according to Goal, Lyon rebuffed an £8.5m from Everton for the player.
The attacker’s contract with Lyon only has a year left and the Ligue 1 side might be tempted to cash in. Arsenal have more money than the other teams and can get the player if Wenger so desires.
However, the report claims his absence from action was the result of a groin injury.
Speaking after the game, Lyon boss Bruno Genesio said: “He felt discomfort in his groin.”
French Newspaper L’Equipe suggest that there was more to the player’s absence than injuries.
Arsenal are currently in search of an attacker that can add value to the tip. Ghezzal hardly falls into the category of player we need.
