As time winds down on Arsene Wenger’s final months as Arsenal Manager, there have been a lot of names bandied about as his possible replacement and Arsene Wenger himself has tipped one of his former players to be his successor at The Emirates once he leaves.

Current Feyenoord coach and former Dutch player, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is Wenger’s favourite to replace him according to a report in The Star.

After signing a new two year contract last summer, Wenger could decide to walk out of his contract at the end of the season when he will still have a year left on his contract allowing a new man to come in after almost 23 years.

Depending on how this season plays out it’s been rumoured that Wenger could leave at the end of this season to give a new manager a chance and it sounds like van Bronckhorst could be the favourite as Arsenal plan for life after Wenger.

Missing out on the Champions League last season was seen as a massive failure despite us having won the FA Cup and it remains to be seen whether the club would tolerate another finish outside of the top four come the end of this season.

According to the report, Wenger sees van Bronckhorst as the coach that could take over his legacy when he leaves, he is doing great things with Feyenoord and has helped them to their first league title in over 12 years along with winning the KNVB Cup for the club in 2015.

So as we wait and see what happens to Arsene Wenger, it looks like Wenger has already earmarked his successor but whether the board and the rest of the club agree is a separate matter.
