The Arsenal board are preparing to subsidise Mesut Ozil’s wages to get rid of the German this month, according to reports.
The 30-year-old’s £350,000-a-week wages are crippling the club’s finances and Unai Emery is desperate to get rid of the German in order to free up some funds to spend to bring in his own targets.
Emery has already admitted that he is unable to make permanent deals this month and has been forced into exploring loan moves for top targets.
Ozil hasn’t featured for the Gunners since Boxing Day with Emery citing ‘tactical’ reasons for leaving the midfielder out of the squad.
Despite being one of Europe’s finest playmakers his wages are proving a huge stumbling block for potential buyers.
It’s believed that Arsenal will not be able to make any significant signings over the summer without offloading one of their highest-paid players and reports are suggesting that the Gunners are willing to subsidise Ozil’s wages to find him a new club.
The Gunners are exploring both loan and permanent deals for the German and have accepted another club will not pay his wages in full and may have to take action in order to push a move through this month.
