AC Milan owners Elliott Management have approached Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis over coming to work on their Board of Directors, according to reports.
A large number of Italian publications are currently reporting on the story, but all of them source Sky Sport Italia as evidence of the official approach from Milan to Gazidis. The original report suggests Milan are interested in the Arsenal CEO, as well as Sassuolo’s Giovanni Carnevali.
Sky also link Milan to Paolo Maldini and Umberto Gandini, but add that there a “few confirmations” of those particular rumours.
Football-Italia add that the links make sense, because Elliott Management founder Paul Singer’s son is a big Arsenal fan, and knows Gazidis personally from his visits to the Emirates Stadium for matches.
Clearly Gazidis’ stock is starting to rise, probably as a result of the positive way the departure of Arsene Wenger has been handled so far. Arsenal have a new head coach, a host of new signings, and a few new contracts for key players as well. We’ll have to wait and see how things go on the pitch, but the transition is going smoothly so far.
We’ll see if there’s anything substantial in these rumours in the coming weeks.
