MANCHESTER UNITED would be a far better option than Manchester City for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
That is the view of ESPN FC pundit and legendary Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.
Sanchez is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.
Manchester City were keen on signing the Chile star in the summer and came close to completing a deal on deadline day, but for Arsenal’s move for a replacement in Thomas Lemar falling through.
With Alexis Sanchez available for free come the end of the campaign, Arsenal may look to sell and recoup some money for him in January.
Nicol does not think he would start for City and believes United would be a better move for him at this point in his career.
“I’m just thinking about his age, he’s 28 years of age,” Nicol said of the Arsenal man.
“Wherever he goes, he needs to go somewhere where he’s going to play regularly. I don’t see that at City.
“Manchester United, I hadn’t honestly thought about it, but since you’ve brought that up, I think that would be a good move.
“He’s going to go there and he is going to play.
“They’ve got Ibra (Zlatan Ibrahimovic) coming back as well, I think him going there would only enhance what they have.
“I don’t see (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan turning this around at all, (Juan) Mata’s probably going to leave, you can’t trust (Anthony) Martial.
“So United seems like not a bad option.”
Sanchez has scored just twice so far this season for Arsenal in all competitions.
