Alexis Sanchez has agreed a four-and-a-half year contract with Manchester United and will officially move to Old Trafford once Henrikh Mkhitaryan agrees to join Arsenal, reports The Telegraph.
The Chile international appeared to be destined for Manchester City but Jose Mourinho quickly swooped in with an improved offer last week.
Sky Sources revealed on Tuesday that the deal involving Sanchez would be a straight swap with Mkhitaryan, who is yet to make a decision on his future.
The Telegraph‘s Matt Law has now confirmed that the 29-year-old has agreed terms with Man United and will now wait for Mkhitaryan to complete a move to the Emirates.
Mino Raiola, Mkhitaryan’s agent, made it clear on Tuesday that his camp wouldn’t be rushed into signing anything. The Armenian wants to be handed an improved salary at Arsenal, which would make him the club’s best paid player.
Negotiations involving Raiola are notoriously protracted but he always gets his way, ensuring a healthy sum goes to him and his client, and this saga will be no different.
And news of Sanchez agreeing a deal at Old Trafford ought to help smoothen the process considerably once Mkhitaryan and Co are happy with the package tabled by Arsenal, who have been seriously backed into a corner over the last week.
