Arsenal have offered Alexis Sanchez a new contract worth £300,000 per week.
The striker’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and he has refused to sign an extension. Arsenal‘s previously offered £225,000, with bonuses that could have bumped up his pay to £275,000 a week.
But Sanchez made it clear he wants upwards of £300,000 before even considering agreeing fresh terms and it remains to be seen whether the new offer will be enough
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain would like to sign the Chile forward, but Arsene Wenger is growing increasingly confident he will stay. The manager refuses to entertain any offers for him, despite the threat of losing him for nothing next summer.
The 28-year-old will miss Friday night’s Premier League opener against Leicester and next weekend’s match at Stoke with an abdominal injury.
Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey, who missed the Community Shield on Sunday with injuries, both trained on Thursday but may not be ready to line up on Friday.
Ozil and fellow midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also out of contract at the end of the season, and offers of more than £50m for either of them or Sanchez would test Wenger’s resolve to keep hold of them.
