The agent of Olympique Lyonnais’ attacker Nabil Fekir has today opened up on the Frenchman’s future at the club, amid heavy links with the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona.
Fekir, a versatile 24-year-old attacker who can play anywhere across the frontline, has been on the books of Lyon since joining the club from Saint-Priest in 2011.
The 10-time capped French international has long been regarded as one of the finest talents in Ligue 1, and was even named Lyon’s new captain following the departure of Maxime Gonalons from the Groupama Stadium last summer.
And the added responsibility of leading his side has certainly not hindered the performances of Lyon’s star man, with Fekir having racked up 21 goals and 6 assists across all competitions to this point in the campaign.
Unsurprisingly, the stellar form of the technically-gifted left-footer has led to inevitable links with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, with the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal having been touted as potential destinations.
The interest on the part of the Gunners is thought to be the most concrete, though, with the capital outfit widely rumoured to be eyeing a summer swoop for Fekir.
Speaking in an interview with Telefoot earlier today, Jean-Pierre Bernes, Fekir’s representative, was questioned on the stories that his client is set to depart the Groupama Stadium this summer, with Bernes refusing to rule out the possibility:
‘Will Fekir still be at Lyon next season? It’s too early to talk about it.’
‘We have time, that’s the straight line. There are important goals and he is already in a big club. After considering my relationship with [president] Jean-Michel Aulas, we will make the best decision.’
