Shocking news coming from the Turkish media today have it that Arsenal are close to completing yet another transfer deal and this is not the Jamie Vardy one. News had emerged last week that Arsenal and Besiktas are in talks for the transfer of David Ospina. Many thought it was a creation of the media as it is expected in at this period of the year.
However, this news has now been officially confirmed by an official of Besiktas. According to Besiktas Sporting director and chief of transfer committee Gokhan Keskin, both Arsenal and the Turkish side are in talks. Although he confirmed that a deal is not yet done but confirms talks are ongoing.
This is very surprising. What could Wenger be up to? Definitely the Frenchman knows Arsenal can’t go into a season with only Petr Cech as the senior goalkeeper. Damian Martinez as a third choice won’t be bad but by letting Ospina go, it means we will only have Martinez and Petr Cech as our two keepers.
We certainly need three and two of that have to be quite experienced. Could it be that Wenger is planning on recalling Szczesny from his loan spell? That’s a big possibility especially considering reports claim Roma are in a financial mess and may not be able to afford to pay Szczesny’s wage demands.
