Arsenal play Ludogret in the Champions League tomorrow but the North London derby against Tottenham this weekend is much talked about, probably because we expected to get the better of the Bulgarian side in the Champions League game.
According to reports, Arsenal have been somewhat handed a massive boost as the Lily Whye defender Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out of action for the derby game.
Alderweireld suffered a knee injury when Tottenham played Tottenham in October and the 27-year-old has since missed four of their games.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said last week that the Belgian defender could be back for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkus
However, Standard report claims the player will not be back until after their match against Arsenal.
Eric Dier has been filling the void along jan Vertonghen in the absence of Alderweireld and the aforementioned pair are expected to continue.
Alderweireld has been an impressive figure at the back alongside Vertonghen since joining from Atletico Madrid for £11.5m in 2015.
This is seen as a boost for Arsenal, who are expected Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal to be back in action for the game.
