Barkok, 19, made 18 Bundesliga appearances in his debut season for Frankfurt, scoring two goals and assisting two.

And his talents have not gone unnoticed with Arsenal said to be interested in securing his services.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to splash the cash this summer as he bids to kick start a new era at the Emirates after signing a two-year contract extension.

He has already been making waves in the transfer window with Sead Kolasinac joining on a free transfer from Schalke.

But his biggest acquisition is the £52million club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

The France international signed a five-year contract worth £200,000-a-week.

However, Wenger wants to bring in more new recruits as he bids to mount a Premier League title challenge and secure a return to the Champions League.

And German outlet Spox say Wenger has turned his attentions to Barkok.

Wenger reportedly had a bid rejected by Frankfurt for the youngster last season.

But the  boss, who has been watching him for some time, has tabled another offer that is no more than £10m for the attacking midfielder.

It is said their approach was made before Barkok represented the Germany Under-19’s against Bulgaria last night.

He is contracted to the club until the summer of 2020.
