Although from all indication, are keen on signing a striker this summer and as such have been linked with the signing of various strikers but aside a striker, it appears Wenger is also interested in bolsters other areas of the squad. According to reports Arsenal have had a bid accepted by Dortmund for the signature of Neven Subotic.
With Per Mertesacker ageing and getting too slow for the Premier League and Calum Chambers looking like he will be going on loan to a yet to be named Premier League club, Arsenal certainly needs another centre back and with Subotic available, it appears Wenger has moved quickly to sign the Serbian for cheap.
Subotic will surely be a good partner for Laurent Koscielny provided he is able to overcome his injury woes. The 27-year-old has been linked with the likes of Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and AS Monaco which is not surprising. He was until 2013 one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga, he lost his place in the Dortmund team due to injuries.
The wage demands of the Serbian is very unlikely to be a problem for Arsenal as according to reports, he is only a paltry 75,000 a week wage package which shouldn’t be a problem for Arsenal.
