Arsene Wenger has already made waves in the transfer market this summer by securing Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke and landing Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record deal from Lyon.
It’s clear that Arsenal need further business though if they’re to fight for Premier League glory next season and seal a return to the Champions League, with many believing the Gunners’ central midfield ranks need bolstering- and it seems Wenger agrees.
German outlet Spox states Arsenal have submitted a bid worth around £10m for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Aymen Barkok, who enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season with the Bundesliga side last term.
The 19-year-old made 18 appearances for Frankfurt last season and first attracted Arsenal’s attentions last summer, where the German side rebuffed the Gunners advances, but Wenger may be able to get a deal over the line in the coming weeks.
Contracted to the German side until 2020, Arsenal may have to negotiate a higher fee for the German U19 international, who featured against Bulgaria last night, but the Gunners still have money to spend in the market despite their record-breaking deal for Lacazette.
