Arsenal certainly need to sign a striker this summer. But if Wenger and his men do not make their moves fast and be ready to pay the ongoing rate, we may end up with no striker at all. According to L’Equipe Chelsea have had a bid of £33.2million accepted by Marseille for Michy Batshuayi and the player will be joining the Blues.
Michy Batshuayi was always an Arsenal target. He was linked with us last summer and has been linked to us once again but due to our dithering and indecisiveness, he is going to Chelsea now.
He has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League after he netted 23 goals across all competitions for Les Phocéennes last term. He also scored in Belgium’s win over Hungary at the EURO 2016 on Sunday.
It now appears that Chelsea have stolen a march on their rivals, according to the reports from RMC Sport, the Belgium international is set to receive special permission to complete medicals with the Blues later today.
Juventus had also been linked with the frontman but they had only bid £24million and were unable to meet Marseille’s asking price. West Ham indicated to Marseille that they were willing to meet the full asking price and were confident of doing a deal.
The Blues, however, went straight ahead to Batshuayi’s advisors to confirm they were willing to sign the forward and, once told of their interest, he dismissed all other offers to go to Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte the incoming Chelsea boss, who is a big fan of the 22-year-old, is said to have personally approved the deal for the Belgian. The former Standard Liege hitman is currently in France, representing his country at Euro 2016.
