I am sure a lot of the fans of Arsenal would be wishing they wake up this day to the realize the transfer window is closed with Riyad Mahrez, Aleksandre Lacazette and Shkodran Mustafi, all signed for Arsenal.
Sadly, the reality is that Arsenal are yet to get off the transfer market. However, reports making the rounds this morning claims Arsenal have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of the Premier League player of the season Riyad Mahrez.
From all indications, it seems that is happening, as the Foxes are reported to have tabled a £23 million bid for Brazilian sensation Gabriel Barbosa. This deal is a pro-active measure by Leicester City as they know Mahrez is keen on Arsenal’s move and they have identified Barbosa as the ideal replacement for the Emirates bound Algerian.
This report is confirmed by BBC and the Daily mail, who Arsenal are still in the race for Mahrez.
Yesterday, the media was awash with reports that Arsenal had 30million Pounds bid for Mahrez rejected but went back with another 35million that was rejected too. The same journalist that’s was peddling the report yesterday and emerged with another, claiming that Arsenal have offer 40million for the player and he would be on his way to the Emirates shortly.
Should Barbosa sign for them, then that means that they have signed a direct replacement for Mahrez.
In as much as the market is heavily inflated, clubs are still signing players and you’d expect Mahrez to still find his way to the Emirates regardless of the price slapped on Arsenal.
