And BBC journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that Liverpool would be Aaron Ramsey’s favoured option should he stay in the Premier League upon the expiry of his contract with Arsenal at the end of the season, according to a report from The Daily Star this morning.
Although earlier reports have suggested that a move to Juventus is all but complete, a deal is far from finalised with PSG and Bayern Munich also thought to still be in the running.
A move abroad to another of Europe’s top leagues is currently favoured by the Welshman, yet staying in the Premier League remains a small possibility and Ramsey is thought to be an admirer of Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s style of play.
“There have been enquiries from English sides and if Ramsey was to remain in the Premier League, he would favour a move to Liverpool”, Ornstein told the BBC on Wednesday.
Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, picking up Ramsey for nothing could be an astute piece of business by Liverpool and he could serve as a direct replacement for Adam Lallana, who seems likely to depart after another injury stricken season on Merseyside.
Even though it may be difficult to sway Ramsey who seems set on a challenge in a different league, with his ability and experience, it’s definitely a move the club should consider.
