PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG has enjoyed a successful move to Arsenal.
That’s the verdict of BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks, who’s compared the hitman to Nicolas Anelka in the wake of the Gunners’ 5-0 win over Burnley.
Aubameyang joined Arsenal in a club-record deal during the January transfer window as they looked to compensate for Alexis Sanchez’s exit.
And he’s made a bright start to life in north London, scoring eight times and providing four assists in his first 12 appearances.
Aubameyang bagged a brace as Arsenal battered Burnley 5-0 on Sunday in Arsene Wenger’s final home game in charge of the club.
Crooks has now hailed the Gabon international’s impact and compared him favourably to former Arsenal striker Anelka.
“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored two well-taken goals and is the sort of player that fits Wenger’s criteria perfectly.
“Not all of Wenger’s signings have been completely successful or totally welcome. Who can forget the furore that accompanied Danny Welbeck’s arrival?
“However, Aubameyang is in a different class. A finisher in the Nicolas Anelka league. What a wonderful note to finish on.”
Aubameyang will be eager to carry his good form into next season as Arsenal look to challenge for the title under a new manager.
