The summer of 2013 saw Arsene Wenger shattered his own transfer record and signed on Germany international Mesut Ozil, and since his acquisition from Real Madrid, Arsenal have become more attractive winning two FA Cups.
Ozil is in the last 18 months of his contract and the 28-year-old midfielder has refused to rule out the possibility of going back to former Club Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old playmaker has made 134 appearances for the Gunners since sealing a £42.5million move from Madrid back in 2013 but he is being heavily linked with a return to the Bernabeu.
There were reports earlier this week by the Metro that the German playmaker regrets signing for Arsenal. Spanish outlet Marca also reported that Ozil has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the Santiago Bernabeu.
‘Return to Madrid? You never know,’ Ozil said.
The World Cup winner went on to explain how Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was his boyhood hero growing up.
‘Zidane was my Idol, as a child I always wanted to be like him on the field.’
Ozil became a fan favourite during his time at Madrid from 2010 to 2013 and scored 27 goals across four campaigns in Spain.
