According to reports,
For Arsenal to sustain their position in the League for the foreseable future, Arsene Wenger must ensure that the core players of Arsenal’s team must be kept.
“Reports have stated that Germany international Mesut Ozil has agreed to sign an extension contract with Arsenal but on the condition that Arsene Wenger also put pen to paper to extend his own stay at the Emirates.
Wenger and Ozil are into the dying stages of their Arsenal contract and their rumours that Ozil will not sign for Arsenal with Wenger also signing another deal.
There’ve also been reports claiming negotiation have already begun with the German who is in the one before the last of his contract to extend his deal with us.
There’ve been report few weeks ago claiming the playmaker is demanding a pay on his salary package of about £250,000 a week and also wants the club to show its ambition to challenge for titles.
Nonetheless, there are claims by Goal and the Express that Ozil’s demand is not financially motivated.
“The report from the British tabloid also went on claiming Ozil’s concerns about the French boss. Wenger is in the final year of his contract and is yet to decide whether he will sign a new deal with us or not. Some reports claim he could step down at the end of the season should the club fail to win the Premier League title again and that could be bad news for us.
If Goal’s report is true, then we have to focus on keeping Wenger with us longer than his current deal. Should Wenger’s departure trigger Ozil’s exit, then it would also result in exodus of other important players like Sanchez and Bellerin. It is imperative we keep our best players even if that means keeping our manager.
Ozil joined us from Real Madrid in 2013 for a club record fee of £42.5m and has become one of our most important players.”
