Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has been sidelined from Chile’s national team with an injury and he will not be their game against Uruaguay next week.
Arsene Wenger has ordered for the return of the player to London but coach of the Chilean national team Juan Antonio Pizzi has said that he will release the player to Arsenal.
Sanchez suffered a torn muscle in training for Chile on Tuesday will miss tonight’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia.
It was reported that Wenger want the player back to the Emirate to have Arsenal’s medics assess him to avoid further damage.
Chile face another crucial clash against Uruguay in Santiago on Tuesday and Pizzi insists Sanchez will remain with the squad in the hope that he’ll be able to take part.
“Sanchez is recovering and will continue with La Roja,” he said.
Pizzi is hopeful Chile can deal with Sanchez’s absence ahead of their match in Barranquilla today.
He said: “He is very important, but we are working to find ways to replace him.
“Not having Alexis is a reality to face, but we rely on the entire group.”
The news that Sanchez will stay in Chile will likely upset Arsene Wenger who has apparently told the country he wants his star man back in London straight away.
We face Manchester United at Old Trafford after the international break and the Frenchman is understandably desperate to have Sanchez available.
