Alexis Sanchez has agreed to join Manchester City this summer but a fee has not yet been reached with Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.
Gerard Romero, who has a strong track record in reporting City’s transfers involving John Stones, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Nolito, claims that the Chile international has an agreement in place to move to Pep Guardiola’s side.
But a transfer fee still has not been agreed between City and Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger adamant that the 28-year-old will not be sold.
Sanchez has only one year remaining on his current contract and with no renewal in sight, Arsenal could risk losing the player on a free transfer next year if they refuse to cash in on him this summer.
On Sunday, reports claimed that Sanchez is even trying to force his way to City by pricing Bayern Munich out of a move.
The German champions are in the race to sign the Chilean but the player is demanding a contract worth £420,000 a week, which would break their wage structure.
On Tuesday, widespread reports claimed that Pep Guardiola will also pass up the chance to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in order to sign Sanchez.
The Borussia Dortmund striker is available this summer and with his proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain falling through, the door has been left open for City.
But Guardiola reportedly remains confident about completing a deal for Sanchez and has made his signing his top priority for the summer.
Arsenal have offered a deal worth £300,000 a week to Sanchez, who is likely to give an indication over his future after Chile’s Confederations Cup campaign finishes this month.
Arsenal’s pre-season campaign begins on July 3 but Sanchez will be granted an extended holiday due to his link up with Chile’s national team.
