There’s a blend of youthfulness and experience at Arsenal, and this is one ingredient that may fire us to the Premier League title this term.
Arsenal star Santi Cazorla is in the final year of his contract and the diminutive Spaniard has stated that he is in the want of a new contract but not in a rush to commit.
Wenger bolstered his squad in the summer but he has to ensure that his experienced players are kept at the club for the foreseeable future.
Cazorla has been in fine form again for Arsenal this season, and is happy to have reclaimed his place in midfield after spending the second half of last term out injured.
‘In my case I will finish my contract at the end of the season but I’m not thinking about it now,’ he told IBTimes. ‘I’m just focusing on playing and giving my best on the pitch.
‘Last season was very difficult for me after spending so much time on the sidelines. Now I just want to enjoy myself again – and we’ll see what happens in the future.’
He added: ‘I’m happy because I’m playing regularly. If I didn’t play I would tell you that I would consider leaving, but I’m having minutes and I have the confidence of the manager. That’s what every player wants.’
Cazorla also spoke about the importance of Arsenal keeping hold of emergin star Hector Bellerin amid interest from Barcelona and Manchester City.
