Arsenal have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of tonight’s crunch European tie against CSKA Moscow, with Arsene Wenger hinting that a key player could make his return.
Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench for the weekend’s 3-0 victory over Stoke City, scoring from the penalty spot after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang unselfishly handed the ball to the Frenchman and didn’t go for his hat-trick, and he’s in line to spearhead the attack this evening.
Speaking to reporters about Lacazette’s situation, Wenger said:
“Lacazette is ready to start, yes. I have not decided if he will start or not yet, but he’s available and ready to start.”
Scorer of ten Premier League goals this season, Lacazette has struggled for consistency since moving to Arsenal from Lyon last summer but has shown flashes of brilliance, which the Gunners will hope leads them over the line this evening.
Aubameyang’s unavailability for the Europa League puts the mantle firmly at the feet of Lacazette, who’ll also be hoping to force his way into the France side for this summer’s World Cup.
