The Germany international had a fine game in Arsenal’s 4-1 win at Stoke City at the weekend, after going through something of a quiet patch earlier in the year.
In general, Arsenal have looked far stronger since moving to three at the back, winning six of their last seven games in the increasingly fashionable formation.
Having previously played more centrally, Ozil is now operating more as an inverted forward from the right flank, where Wenger feels he can use his favoured left foot to good effect by cutting inside and enjoying the freedom to roam around the pitch.
‘Before he was a bit more central. He’s now more often on the flanks, but he still has the freedom to move,’ the Frenchman said.
‘I think he plays a bit more on the right, but his ball coming inside on his left foot can be deadly.
We have seen a few examples. He delivers fantastic passes and I think both of them (Ozil and Alexis Sanchez) can enjoy it.’
