The summer transfer window has come and gone but Arsenal fan base are yet cruizing in the ambiance of their new signings Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi, who were signed during the closing stages of the transfer window.
Lucas Perez joined from Deportivo La Coruna in a 17million Pounds deal while Mustafi joined from Valencia in a 35million Pounds deal, both on long terms deal.
The signing of the players came at a point where pundits and fans called on Wenger to bolster his attack and defense. Nonetheless, Wenger had revealed that he was looking for the players with the right quality.
The French tactician claims Mustafi will tick the boxes of his team while Perez will provide an interesting alternative to Giroud upfront.
He said: “We were earlier than expected [on the two deals] with a quick turnaround on Saturday morning.
“Mustafi is a young centre-back and already has experience.
“Lucas Perez is an interesting striker who can score goals but can also provide assists.
“He has some interesting qualities.”
Despite a mixed start to the season, Wenger is delighted with the options he now has at his disposal.
“They are not 19/20-year-old players and the whole squad is quite mature,” he said.
“It’s the first time for quite a while that I have a whole squad full of men ready to compete.”
