Wenger has praised Nicklas Bendtner for his performance for the Gunners in the match against West Brom yesterday. The Danish striker was handed his first start for the gunners in over 2 years in the capital one cup game against West Bromwich Albion.
The Danish striker made the pass that led to the first goal which was scored by Arsenal’s German youngster Thomas Eisfeld. The match ended in penalties and Bendtner did well to score his own penalty kick. Wenger was pleased with Bendtner’s performance and has praised the striker saying : “I thought overall, he had a good game,”.
“For a guy who has not played for such a long time, and on his own up front, he did very well.”
Bendtner has a golden chance to score the winning goal for the gunners but dithering ensure West Brom’s Craig Dawson late tackle was able to stop him from scoring for the gunners.
Explaining while Bendtner wasted the golden chance Wenger said :
“What happened to him is what happens to many strikers when they have too much time to score – they wait and wait, and wait for too long. But overall, I thought his game was positive,”.
“I believe for Nicklas, the most important thing for him is to stay fit. As for the rest, he has the talent – you know that.”
