Arsenal fans have expressed their thoughts on social media about the potential signing of Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette.

The BBC reported on Tuesday that the 26-year-old forward has completed a medical test with the Gunners before the becoming the club’s record signing in a £45million deal

Lacazette would be Arsene Wenger’s second signing of the transfer window after the French boss secured Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer last month.

Arsenal fans shared their thoughts on social media, and many supporters expressed their delight at the possibility of the forward joining the Emirates, while others stated that they refused to believe it.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Lacazette – hoping your the guy we’ve needed for the past 3 years!!!

From Alexis, Giroud, Theo and Ozil to Alexis, Lacazette, Mahrez and Ozil.

Wenger, you are a genius.

still not very excited about this lacazette signing. i haven’t really seen much of him, but what i have seen hasn’t been amazing

@BulletHeader12

Knowing Arsenal, Lacazette will complete his medical today and they’ll announce him in 3 weeks

Lacazette impressed at Lyon last season after he was named as the second highest goal scorer in the Ligue 1 when he netted a staggering 28 goals in just 30 appearances.

The Frenchman has grown through the ranks at the Ligue 1 outfit, and joined the first team permanently in 2009 before developing further into somewhat of a goal-machine.

The 26-year-old would be a welcome addition to the Gunners this summer as, despite winning the FA Cup, the north London club had a dismal Premier League campaign which left Wenger’s squad in fifth place and subsequently without a Champions League spot.
