Arsenal have been cruising is form but Mesut Ozil has been making waves in the media wave with his first professional career hatrick.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Ozil now sees himself not only an assist provided but also a goalscorer, this he has attributed to the recent goal scoring form of the player.
“He works quite well on finishing in training,” Wenger said.
“I believe that every player gets in a habit of having a vision of his game, and sometimes he doesn’t get out of the boundaries he has fixed himself. He experienced his game as a provider and slowly I think he’s getting the taste to think ‘oh, maybe I can finish as well’. That’s what you want him to do, to add that to his game.
“There’s no reason that he should not finish and score.
“Hopefully the fact that he scored again on Wednesday night will give him that taste and desire.”
Ozil has scored four goals in the last two games with his first professional hattrick coming against Ludogorets on Wednesday in the Champions League. The playmaker getting more goals than assists is a welcome change considering this is where his biggest downfall has been since joining.
Last season, he only scored eight goals in all competitions (20 assists) but this term he’s on course to smash this. He’s already at six (one assist) in just 10 appearances.
Although the German has been fantastic for Arsenal so far, adding this extra string to his bow isn’t just great for the team but personally as well. His confidence must be through the roof and a confident Ozil is a happy Ozil.
