Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mathieu Debuchy will feature for Arsenal against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday night.

The boss has confirmed the Debuchy will make his first senior appearance for the Gunners in almost a year during their Europa League clash in Serbia this week.

“It’s a possibility he starts tomorrow,” the boss said during his press conference.

“He has not played for a long time.”

Don’t we know it.

Debuchy last played for Arsenal’s first team on 27 November 2016 when he was on the pitch for just 16 minutes against Bournemouth. He didn’t feature before or since that.

Now, the 32-year-old tends to feature for Arsenal’s reserves and considering his contract runs out next June, I don’t think many of us expected to see him playing in a competitive match again.

Who knows, perhaps Wenger’s trying to encourage other clubs to sign him.

The right-back played 45 minutes during the Young Guns’ 2-0 win over Sunderland’s u23s on Monday so it’s unclear whether the Frenchman will play a whole match on Thursday or not.

As far as everyone else is concerned, Santi Cazorla (ankle), Calum Chambers (hip) and Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring) are all sidelined.

Wenger’s likely to start a mixture of experienced players and youth, as he has done for the other two Europa League matches against FC Cologne and BATE Borisov.

Hopefully we can make it three wins out of three on Thursday evening.
