Arsene Wenger has backed Jack Wilshere to make his return for England very soon after regaining his match fitness in recent months.

The 25-year-old broke into the Arsenal first team during the 2010/11 season which saw him claim an instant spot in the starting eleven.

However, Wilshere has been plagued by all sorts of injuries ever since, slowing down his progress after previously being deemed as a promising youngster.

The midfielder is finally managing to stay fit so far this season and according to Wenger, Wilshere is actually ready to return to the scene with the England national team as well.

“Personally, I think he’s ready,” the Arsenal manager said in an interview

“He was not three weeks ago but he is today. He’s ready. He’s competitive. In every single competition, he’s ready to play. I would encourage him to do it.

“And I don’t know how you can keep a super-fit Jack out of the England squad.

“I spoke to [England manager Gareth Southgate] about Jack before the Swansea game. I don’t know if he will be called up. He just asked me how he is and I said no restrictions. He’s in a very good way.”
