Arsene Wenger agrees to quit Arsenal – Insider reveals

After failing to compete favorably for the Premier League title, Arsene Wenger has left no one in doubt that he will be quitting Arsenal a the end of this term.

Paul Merson believes Arsene Wenger will leave Arsenal and join Paris Saint-Germain if the Ligue 1 giants fail to win the Champions League this season.

Wenger’s future at the Emirates has been under immense scrutiny since Arsenal dropped out of the title race and capitulated in the Champions League against Bayern Munich.

The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season and is believed to be weighing up his future as Gunners boss.

Merson insists Wenger remains respected around the world and can see the Arsenal veteran joining PSG next season.

‘Wenger has a great reputation around the world, he knows every footballer in the world,’ Merson told Sky Sports.

‘I just think if PSG don’t win the Champions League – and I’m not sure they’re going to win the French league with the way Monaco are playing – I would say he would be manager of PSG next year.’

Arsenal have enjoyed a two-week break from their last fixture – a 2-0 win over Sutton United in the FA Cup – and travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, who suffered a disappointing defeat to Leicester last week, know a victory will see them move above Arsenal into fourth-place.
