Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told Arsenal fans to cheer up as the club is still very much active in the transfer market and will be making key signings before the window closes in the next 18 days. Arsenal has so far made only one signing in the window which is French Under 20 striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from French second division club Auxerre.
“We are active,” the 63-year-old told the club’s website.
“We are in a situation like Manchester United, like Chelsea, where everybody expects signings and at the moment not a lot has happened.
“There are 18 days to go, so that is a long time in the transfer market and we will be active.
“I cannot certify what the number [of players coming in will be] but we will be active until the end, that is for sure.”
Earlier in the summer, Arsenal’s CEO told a section of Arsenal fans in a question and answers session that the club is now finally ready to invest heavily on the playing staff the team as the club now has money to spend after many years of selling key players for profit.
So far this window, Arsenal has been linked to several high profile players but none has so far been signed. The club is currently locked in negotiation with Liverpool for the likely signing of their troublesome striker Luiz Suarez.
